Plastic Free Henley

THROUGH THE POWER OF TELEVISION DOCUMENTARIES AND LARGE SCALE PUBLICITY, WE ARE ALL AWARE JUST HOW VITAL THE ERADICATION OF HARMFUL PLASTICS MEANS TO OUR COMMUNITY AND THE WORLD AT LARGE – THE JPC IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE PFH WILL BE CAMPAIGNING AT A LOCAL LEVEL AND UPDATES AND ITINERARIES OF ACTION WILL BE POSTED ON THESE PAGES.

Henley joins Plastic Free Communities Accreditation

Henley in Arden recently joined a network of over 300 Plastic Free Communities across the UK, including Leamington Spa and Warwick, to apply for a Plastic Free Communities Accreditation, issued by the charity Surfers Against Sewage.

Local residents, with support from the parish council, are looking for local volunteers to help by uniting against single use plastics like straws, bottles, takeaway boxes and disposable forks.

To be awarded the Plastic Free Communities Accreditation the village must pass five objectives including getting local businesses to avoid single-use plastics. The volunteers hope this action will form the basis of a long term change away from dependency on single use plastics in Henley in Arden.

These objectives will see volunteers connect with the community, local businesses, schools and the parish council on behalf of Plastic Free Communities.

There is no set time commitment and it is entirely voluntary. The aim is to empower individuals to take action.
