THE LOST KING

An original and very watchable film set in Edinburgh and Leicester about the dedication of one woman – Philippa Langley, to find the remains of King Richard III – a true story which resulted in his high-profile re-internment in 2015

The battle for the unheard to be heard and for those whose history has been stolen , re-written or silenced by those in power to push back and speak out : We know now how the working class and women’s history has been pushed into the shadows to the glorification of a tiny minority – this film shows how that is done – so politely , so relentlessly . Anyone who has watched barristers, politicians or journalists cherry-picking evidence to prove a lie will be cheering through tears at this film. Sally Hawkins is brilliant: portraying a personal struggle against having her own reality denied (as an ME sufferer) alongside the struggle to get history re-written for someone who has had their reality denied for 500 years, it speaks out for all those who have had our histories denied or rewritten and all groups who have been dehumanised, portrayed as monsters to feed a political narrative of those in power.
