JPC CONSIDERING SPEED ENFORCEMENT MEASURES

At the JPC Ordinary Meeting held on Monday the 7th last, the issue of speed enforcement was debated and two options were proposed by Cllr Okey [Minutes to follow] they were:

  1. Vehicle Activated Signs [VAS]
  2. Speed cameras [either recorded or average speed

Cllr Okey asked the assembly which of the two were considered appropriate and no firm preferences were reached, she said that she would proceed with research into both. Cllr Shenton, who was present, said he would provide further information on VAS, which is posted below.

A member of the publci asked why road surface repeater signage had not bee employed when the 20MPH limit was adopted and Cllr Okey said she would investigate this further.

Let the JPC have your comments.
