POLICE CAUTION DRIVERS PARKING ON HIGH STREET

DRIVERS CAUTIONED BY POLICE FOR ILLEGAL PARKING ON HIGH STREET

Several people noted positive action, outside the Coop late this afternoon, by police, who cautioned several drivers parked illegally on double yellow lines, that they were breaking the law, a move which may well have been prompted by the recent accident.

The JPC consider this recent accident, involving an elderly resident, crossing High Street opposite the Guild Hall, to be a warning of more serious incidents to come.  We are planning to join with other local parish councils in a campaign to resolve this most worrying issue, where almost daily, blatant traffic offences are witnessed and reported to us.

We do not have the resources to set up average speed cameras and other traffic calming measures as a parish council, we need the full cooperation of other councils, SDC and WCC, to  make it effective! More especially, we need YOUR SUPPORT! We will stop this abuse of our High Street and surrounds, we will keep you all advised on how you can help make life safer in Henley.
