POLICE HELPING JPC FIND A SOLUTION TO PREVENT ERRANT PARKING ON HIGH STREET

OUR LOCAL NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICE CONSTABLE JOINS IN THE QUEST TO AVOID FURTHER ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY PARKED CARS [See earlier post on illegal parking]

Email from PC Sue Blundell to Parish Clerk

Hi Gill,

I understand that at a recent PC meeting concern was raised following the serious RTC on the High Street and vehicles parking outside the shops.

As you are aware double yellow lines are enforced by Warwickshire County Council through NSL Enforcement who regularly patrol Henley and issue tickets.  They do, however, have to observe a vehicle parked (not delivering) for a period of time before they issue a ticket.

There is a method of reporting bad parking and unnecessary obstruction to Warwickshire Police via Operation Snap.  This was recently advertised on the Alcester Police Facebook page and is something you can spread the news about.

I have consider what could be done to stop vehicles parking at the location, such as railings, however a lot of the vehicles that stop outside the shops are displaying Blue Badges or they are vehicles/lorries making deliveries so this would not be an option.  Although railing around the crossing, similar to the crossing further up the road are a possibility to reduce where vehicles stop.  Perhaps restrictions on when deliveries are made is something that could be considered by the relevant authority.

Regards
