This is our latest weekly report and prompt to see if you have any questions, suggestions or concerns for the Alcester Police North SNT. Thank you to those that have contacted the Team this week. If you would like to be removed from this local email circulation list, please let me know asap.

For operational and privacy reasons not all the incidents that occur on the Alcester area are listed in this report. Please remember to report any anti-social behaviour, suspicious activity or crimes to us as soon as possible – this can be done via the 101 and 999 telephone numbers or if not an emergency via our online reporting forms that can be found on our website.

Incidents of a public interest from the last week:-

COUGHTON

• *Anti-Social Behaviour. Area near to the Ford, Coughton. Group of males seen drinking and urinating in public. A dark coloured Freelander was parked nearby. Caller concerned regards their general behaviour and the possibility that the driver of the vehicle may be drunk. 5.25pm Saturday 17^th April. 0281 17/04/2021
• *Damage / Burglary. Sambourne Lane, Coughton. Outbuilding broken into. Padlock and bolt forced off. Nothing stolen at the time. Between 12^th & 13^th April. 0094 13/04/2021

STUDLEY

• *Arson. Crooks Lane and Pool Road, Studley. Hedge and fence set on fire. A group of youngsters seen at the scene at the time who then moved away when the fire service arrived. Details taken of those present in the area at the time for further enquires. 6.55pm Saturday 17^th April. 0320 17/04/2021
• *Suspicious Circumstances. Mill Pleck, Studley. Front door of house tried by unknown person. Caller concerned that someone was trying to get in. No one seen at the time. No trace on police arrival. No offences disclosed at the time. 12.10am Saturday 17^th April. 0010 17/04/2021
• *Suspicious Circumstances. Pool Road, Studley. Two youngsters seen in secure compound of building site. Two male teenagers found at the scene by police. Taken home to parents and advised regards their behaviour. 8,45pm Friday 16^th April. 0401 16/04/2021
• *Suspicious Circumstances. Pool Road, Studley. Several youngsters seen in secure compound of building site, letting off fire extinguishers. CCTV to be reviewed. No trace on police arrival. 6pm Tuesday 13^th April. 0334 13/04/2021
• *Anti-Social Behaviour. Pool Road, Studley. Several youngsters seen in secure compound of building site, letting off fire extinguishers. CCTV to be reviewed. 6.30pm Monday 12^th April. 0345 12/04/2021
• *Theft. Red Hill Close, Studley. Blue childs BMX taken by scrap collector. Collector in a yellow van with a registration number ending in ‘ECV’. 8am Monday 12^th April. 0059 12/04/2021

HENLEY

• *Vehicle Crime. Arden Road, Henley. Theft of Catalytic Converter from Honda Civic. Between 1.30pm and 2.30pm Wednesday 14^th April. 0227 14/04/2021
• *Suspicious Circumstances / Attempt Theft. Whitley Road, Henley. Persons seen trying to remove roof bars from a Vauxhall Zafira. They were unsuccessful and left the area in a Silver Seat with a registration number ending in ‘WWA’. 7.55pm Tuesday 13^th April. 0409 13/04/2021

WOOTTON WAWEN

• *Vehicle Crime. Seymour Homes, Wootton Wawen. Theft of Catalytic Converter from a Rav 4. Between 12 midday and 9pm Tuesday 13^th April. 0097 14/04/2021

EARLSWOOD

• *The Lakes and Malthouse Lane area. Calls received this week – loud voices from people walking in the area, possibly drunk – cars racing – vehicle with noisy exhaust – occupants of car smoking cannabis. The SNT and colleagues continue to pay passing attention to the area when available.

HOCKLEY HEATH

• *Damage. Stratford Road, Hockley Heath. Passenger side window of vehicle smashed. Nothing stolen at the time. Between 14^th and 15^th April. 0368 15/04/2021

LAPWORTH

• *Anti-Social Behaviour. Stratford Road / Tinkers Lane, Lapworth. 4×4 vehicles causing a general nuisance in the area. Damage caused to the ground and litter being left. Caller said that this was an ongoing situation. Reported Saturday 17^th April. 0341 17/04/2021

Catalytic converter theft protection advice – Did you know a thief can steal a catalytic converter in a matter of minutes? Most vehicles have catalytic converters, which can be stolen for the value of the precious metals or illegally re-sold. We’ve seen a recent spate in catalytic converter thefts across the county. Thieves tend to target hybrid cars – including models such as the Toyota Prius, Honda Jazz and Lexus – as the value of their converter is higher and they can be accessed more easily with a jack. The simplest way to prevent catalytic converter theft is to put your vehicle in a garage or secured area if you have one. Alarms, lighting and CCTV can also help to deter thieves.

Other ways to protect your vehicle include:

• •buying and fitting a protection device specifically to cover the catalytic converter
• •installing motion-activated lighting if you park your vehicle on a driveway, but if this isn’t possible, park it in a well-lit, busy area
• •using your vehicle’s alarm or installing a Thatcham approved alarm, which should activate if the vehicle is tilted or lifted. Alarms that can alert you via mobile devices are extremely useful.
• •ensuring your dashcam is set to detect movement
• •looking out for anyone ‘working’ or acting suspiciously under vehicles (particularly in busy car parks)

In addition, if you are going to be visiting somewhere for a long period of time (e.g. a supermarket), we would advise you to park so it is difficult for thieves to lift your vehicle. Marking kits can also be purchased which assist police investigations as converters can be tracked back to the vehicle they came from if located.  Please call 101 to report any incident and always dial 999 if you see a crime in action
