ST NICHOLAS GRAVEYARD – GRAVESTONES UNCOVERED

REMOVAL OF SHRUBBERY ON MOUNT-SIDE OF GRAVEYARD REVEALS FORGOTTEN MEMORIAL STONES

A REPORT FROM JPC’S JEM JONES

CHURCH GRAVEYARD UPDATE. Hi all, as some of you have been following, there have been some concerns from residents about the graveyard at St Nicholas’s church. Over the past month or so John Ganjavi &, Graham Hindley from the Church plus Ray Evans and myself from the JPC have been working on a strategy to get the required work done to the whole graveyard, including grass cutting, hedges, fallen headstones, ivy against the Church, the ‘slope’, paths and edging. We agreed with the Community Payback Team that they would help us to get to a position we all want to be, and they have now visited 3 times. I have attached some photos, but please be aware they are not fully finished with the first piece of ‘clearance’ work yet, but hopefully as you can see that they are making great progress across the whole site. In some photos you can see where they have worked up to. If you want to ask any questions, please use comment box below. Thanks also, to all of the residents who volunteered to help. We will be calling on you soon!!

Neat turf borders, one of the many tasks undertaken by the Pay Back Team! More care coming.
