Dear All,
Vaccination transport for elderly in the community
We have had a lot of questions around the transport of residents to have a vaccination.
Please note that the information below should be prioritised in the following order and that a referral to volunteer transport should be the final option. Where possible we need to allocate capacity for those who have no other way of attending a vaccination appointment.
Option 1
Ask a family member/ a carer/ or someone within your bubble to take you to your appointment.
Option 2
Identify a volunteer who will be willing to help you. Local volunteers can be found via the Local Community and Mutual Aid Groups, to access this list please go to https://api.warwickshire.gov.uk/documents/WCCC-966-2079 Alternatively, please use your own contacts, including parish and town councils and NHS Volunteer responders.
Option 3
Only if all other options are exhausted then get in touch with voluntary transport. Please note that voluntary transport is not free. Most organisations charge a £3 admin fee per journey and 45 pence per mile.
The three main voluntary transport services in Warwickshire are:
- Residents in Rugby, Warwick and Stratford areas contact: VASA 01789 262889 and press option 1, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm or email transport@vasa.org.uk
- Residents in Nuneaton and Bedworth contact Volunteer Friends (Medicar): Use 024 7664 0088 – Monday to Friday between 9 30am and 1pm.
- Residents in North Warwickshire contact Beeline: 01827 717074 – Monday to Friday 9am to 1pm
